US Jetting RPD Run-Dry Pumps
US Jetting designs and manufactures a Radial Piston Diaphragm (RPD) Pump. This pump design, first introduced into the
US market by Nick Woodhead, founder of US Jetting, LLC revolutionized the high pressure jetting industry. Originating
the concept of "High Pressure - Low Flow", these pumps allowed sewer & drain cleaning contractors the ability to
clean a broader range of pipe diameters with a single unit. Utilizing half-inch diameter lightweight high pressure
jetting hose, pipe cleaning versatility dramatically changed, allowing for residential, commercial, industrial and
municipal sewer lines to be cleaned with a single unit.

US Jetting RPD 8-Cylinder Pump & Major Components
The RPD design set the standard for the sewer & drain cleaning industry. Using less water at the much high water
pressure of 4,000 PSI easily removed grease, roots and debris from pipes. Compact in design and requiring less
water storage, these units proved their worth where larger flusher type units were once partially employed.
First designed to provide high pressure water for the offshore oil industry by utilizing saltwater, RPD pumps became
infamous for reliable long term use at 4,000 PSI without pressure loss or the need for seal replacement to maintain
pressure. Although since superseded in design & efficiency by US Jetting Run-Dry Plunger Pumps, RPD pumps maintain
a key advantage of using saltwater or brackish water still critical for applications in the offshore oil industry
and within shipyards.

RPD pumps could reliably produce 4,000 PSI that other piston plunger pumps could not match until the
development of the US Jetting series of Run-Dry Plunger Pumps. With the development of the proprietary US
Jetting Run-Dry fluid end, greater flow capacity could be achieved on a less complex plunger pump frame.
The US Jetting 4018 Run-Dry pump now produces the near maximum pressurized water flow capable of passing
through a half-inch diameter hose for a more efficient unit. Less moving parts and a simple design allow for
reduced maintenance time and costs.

toolboxes & 500" of high pressure jetting hose.
Many early sewer & drain cleaning RPD users still prefer RPD pumps, ordering new RPD equipped units as replacements
or additions to their inventory. US Jetting still manufactures RPD pumps, maintains a full inventory of spare parts,
provides service and promotes their specialized use.

US Jetting has the advantage of Run Dry pumps - the ability to run out of water while under the strain of
high pressure jetting without causing pump failure or expensive repair damage. High durability with reduced
maintenance (and associated costs) result in US Jetting High Pressure Jetting units being more productive and
profitable to operate that no other competitor can match.
As the below pumpchart shows, Radial Piston Pumps have a unique pressure & flow relationship. As pump output pressure is increased, water flow output
decreases. To explain this, as the pressure is increased, more pump oil is allowed to pass between the cylinder wall and the piston of every cylinder.
As more oil escapes pass the piston cylinder, less oil volume is available to squeeze the diaphram thus the reduction of water flow output. Before
the creation of the US Jeting Run Dry Plunger Pump, the Radial Piston Pump provided high pressure water with unparralleled reliability. Radial
Piston Pumps still have desired qualities such as the ability to use saltwater or brackish water for high pressure applications. RPD Pumps can be
found in shipyards, offshore oil rigs and on many island communities.
